Go Where You Will
05:05
|
|||
Come into these quarters
Come explore the chambers
Of this heart I’ll keep no
Secrets from you but I
Might not be staying long
When I left it open
I did not know that the
Door would draw the draught in
Set the embers glowing
Under the sleeping logs
Of a fire I thought
Had expired long a-
Go, when I was knocked down
In the violence of the
Storm of a fleeting love
Go where you will, go where you will,
Go where you will
Love who you will, love you will love
Travelling a while and
Lingering a little
Dip my toes into the
Stream and feel the trickle
Quickening my blood flow
Now my nerves awaken
And the buds are shaking
Leaves and flowers blossom
No more playing possum
No longer laden down
By the heavy hands of
Recollection held up
To reflect the patterns
Of my predilection
For a repeating love
Go where you will…
Flickering like a flame we are
Changing all the time each
Face we turn towards the
Sun another story
Line drawn into the sand
Scattered like
Feathers on the
Breeze, we gather and settle for a
While, but we could never be to-
gether forever for nothing in this
World can be made to stand
In the way of time and
Tide the lies of light will
Fade the hallows of the
Night will shade the spark of
Love living and unplanned
Go where you will...

Wake Up
03:19
|
|||
Wake up, Wake up
Day is breaking ground is warming
Sun comes over the horizon
Eyes are open birds are calling
Flying low the fog is rising up
Wake up, Wake up
Pull on clothes and stoke the embers
Kettle's on the morning fire
Coffee in a metal cup
Time we were all gently rising up
Wake up, Wake up
Wake up, Wake up

Whistling Wind
03:18
|
|||
You believe in heaven
You believe in hell,
I don’t believe in fairy tales
But I believe in life
And something stays behind
Even after we die
Even after we die,
Something stays behind
And you talk about angels
In a holy choir, well,
I’m not sure about things with wings
But there’s a song in the whistling wind
Let me hear it again
Let me hear it again
In the whistling wind and the rain
Let me hear it again
So just give me one reason
To go looking for help
When the only meaning I know
Is the one that I found myself
And I’m not trying to sell
It to anyone else
I’m not willing to sell my soul
To anyone else

Song Long Forgotten
06:46
|
|||
Early in the morning
While you were sleeping
I saw them coming
I saw them coming
Flying one by one by one
Flying one by one
And the air was golden
And the clouds were cotton
And they were singing
A song long forgotten
I felt them leaving
By the open window
While you were breathing
Silently and slow
Breathing in and in and in
Breathing in and in
And the air was golden
And the clouds were cotton
And they were singing
A song long forgotten

Pomegranate
03:20
|
|||
Dry and papery, ruby so terrible
Sweet and secret, let nobody know
Broken open and scattered on the table
Another year over and another shoot grows
Dark and delicate,
I’ll try to keep you all to myself
For nobody else
With a paper laid out on the table beside you
And a pool of ink that dripped down to the floor
Blood had broken and I wanted you more
Dark and delicate,
I’ll try to keep you all to myself
For nobody else
Sprouted seeds turned to shoots, grew some roots
Wound around from my eyes to my mouth
Sweet and sinful now let them all call you
Grow so quietly that no one will know
Dark and delicate,
I’ll try to keep you all to myself
For nobody else
Went to be but you got in my head
No red fruit just a shell and a stone
Caught myself speaking only to please you
Another year over and another shoot grows
Dark and delicate,
I’ll try to keep you all to myself

Way Up on the Mountain
05:24
|
|||
I found my mother way up on the mountain
She wore a dress of the deepest blue
She sang a song of the first creation
The words were old but the tune was new
I found my father in the woodland waiting
His hands were held in silent prayer
The air was still but the spirit was moving
And I felt better for having been there
I found my brother on the crooked highway
He looked like every man I ever knew
I said my brother I have been searching
The whole world over just to find you
I found my sister in the golden valley
As the evening sun was going down
And then I knew my journey was over
That place would be my resting ground

Half Blind
04:07
|
|||
I have fallen foul of my desire
Striking while the iron’s in the fire
Taking ever more than I require
So forsaking love to be admired
Yet you cast your net when not one star was shining
Caught my eye upon your silver lining
Torn between resisting and resigning
Like a fly toward a flame inclining
Darling I am not opposed to letting go this time
Though I fear I'll leave an eye still dangling on the line
There are far worse things I could expect to leave behind
Then to keep my heart intact and walk about half blind

Lowlands of Holland
06:17
|
|||
Brían found the lyrics of this song in a book called The Legendary Ballads of England and Scotland, and adapted and arranged this version of the song to his interpretation of the melody. This is a popular traditional song in Ireland and Britain, particularly in the North of Ireland and Scotland, and versions of the lyrics and melody vary greatly across the islands. These lyrics have been chopped and changed a little from the original, and the melody is inspired by the version sung by Paddy Tunney from Donegal/Fermanagh.
The love that I have chosen, I’ll therewith be content
The salt sea shall be frozen before that I repent
Repent it shall I never, until the day I die
For the Lowlands of Holland have twined my love and I
My love lies in the salt sea and I am on the side
Enough to break a young thing’s heart, wha lately was a bride
Wha lately was a bonny bride and pleasure in her eye
For the Lowlands of Holland have twined my love and I
My love he built a bonny ship and set her on the sea
With seven score good mariners for to bear her company
But the weary winds began to rise and the seas began to rout
And my love then and his bonny ship turned withershins about
There shall neither coif come on my head nor comb come through my hair
There shall neither coal nor candle-light shine in my bower mair
Nor will I love another one until the day I die
For the high winds and stormy seas have twined my love and I
Oh hauld your tongue my daughter dear, be still and be content
There are mair lads in Galloway, ye need na sair lament
Oh there is nane in Galloway, there’s nane at a’ for me
For I never loved a love but one, and he’s drowned in the sea
